The Ghana Football Association (GFA) requested a minute's silence before of all weekend fixtures in memory of the late Referee Richard Atiffu.

Before his untimely death on Friday, April 14, 2023, Attiffu was the GFA and RAG's National Technical Instructor.

Last Saturday, Richard Atiffu was involved in a car crash. Despite being transported to Accra's Ridge Hospital, he did not survive.

A minute's silence should be held before kickoff at all betPawa Premier matchday 26 games and Access Bank Division League matchweek 23 games, according to a GFA press release.

All RFA 2nd Division League, 3rd Division League, and Juvenile League matches this weekend will pay tribute to the late Atiffu.

At the time of his retirement, he was regarded as one of Africa's most seasoned referees since he had presided over matches in a variety of events, including the African Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In addition to his refereeing career, Atifu served as a FIFA instructor, mentoring and training future referees to succeed in their own careers.
