Ghana's Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has emphasized the crucial role of investment by clubs in restoring Ghana's prominence in African club competitions.
Speaking at the 29th GFA Ordinary Congress in Kumasi, Ussif stressed the need for concerted efforts to elevate the standard of Ghanaian football and regain its position among the elite in African football.
Ussif highlighted that Ghanaian Premier League clubs have lost their competitive edge and called for proactive measures to reclaim their stature.
To achieve this goal, Ussif underscored the significance of financial investment by both the clubs and key stakeholders.
He urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and club owners to channel resources into all aspects of the game, aiming to attract larger audiences, fill stadiums, and ultimately reestablish Ghana's dominance in African club competitions.
"The FA, Club owners, and key stakeholders must invest in all aspects of the game to attract more fans, fill our stadiums, and regain our prominence in African club competitions," Ussif stated.
