Ghana defender, Patrick Kpozo has revealed that Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton complained about the quality of the pitch against Madagascar.

The West African country were hosted in Antananarivo in the matchday five games against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

After 90 minutes of football, the game ended goalless.

Kpozo who made his debut on Sunday said Hughton was disappointed with the quality of the pitch.

“For me, it was just a normal game I played. I never felt nervous and I am very okay," he told Citi Sports.

"Before the game, the coach [Chris Hughton] told us the pitch was terrible and that changed our style a bit, but it was okay,” he added.

Despite the draw, the Black Stars still sit top of Group E with eight points after five games.

Ghana, who are aiming to end their 41 years AFCON trophy drought will wrap up their qualifying games against the Central African Republic (CAR) in September.
