Former Ghanaian midfielder Charles Kwame Takyi has been retained as an assistant coach for Schalke 04's U19 team for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
Takyi, who began his professional career with Schalke's B team during the 2003/04 season, returned to the club last season to assist with the youth team.
The experienced coach will be supporting Norbert Elgert, who is entering his remarkable 21st consecutive season as the head coach of Schalke 04's U19 team.
Elgert, aged 66, has been coaching the S04 youth since 2002 without interruption. Takyi, along with Tim Hoogland, will continue to assist Elgert, as they did in the previous season. Completing the quartet is goalkeeper coach Volkan Ünlü.
In regard to the coaching structure of their junior teams, the club has confirmed that Jakob Fimpel will remain as the coach of the Schalke U23 team in the Regionalliga West.
Assisting Fimpel in his role will be Willi Landgraf and Tomasz Waldoch, while Christian Wetklo will take charge of training the goalkeepers.
