Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has rated the 2010 Afcon camp as the best he has been in.
Gyan stated that the team was united and in high spirits all the time at the tournament.
Afcon 2010 was held in Angola, where it began on 10 January 2010 and concluded on 31 January. Egypt won the tournament, their seventh title and an unprecedented third in a row, beating Ghana 1–0 in the final.
"Angola 2010 I had issues not issues but 2008 I was criticized for no reason harshly for a game that we won. So with that it made me not love the national team I was playing but my heart wasn't in it that game still haunts me today," he told Asempa FM as monitored by Footballghana.com
"Against Namibia on paper Ghanaians thought we should have scored them 20-0. It was one of those days it was an acute angle the goalkeeper fumbled I was trying to shoot it was a very difficult angle the ball went over and the whole nation was like eiii.
"That is when I threatened to leave the camp fast forward when we went to Angola I was fit I remember in my first press conference I said Ghana will go to the final I was performing at my club side no injuries nothing,"
"I was very confident I got injured in the first game a muscle strain we lost 3-1 I came on to score through a penalty. Camp was amazing the under u-20 too was there 70 percent of the u-20 team were in camp so I was like the leader but we had Kingston Eric Addo and Matthew Amoah,"
"So I didn't know how to deal with the young ones because they were shy that is where I started the jokes everybody was in high spirits. It was one of the best camps I have been in wherever we went the unity was there,"
