Mamelodi Sundowns secured a convincing 4-1 victory against CR Belouizdad in the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final clash in Algiers on Saturday night.

The South African team put in a dominant performance, with Peter Shalulile scoring two goals and assisting Neo Maema for another. Cassius Mailula added a late fourth to seal the victory.

Sundowns started strongly and took the lead just six minutes into the game when Shalulile headed in from an Aubrey Modiba cross.

Shalulile then turned provider in the 20th minute, setting up Maema for a powerful side-footed shot to double the lead. Belouizdad responded just before half-time when Miloud Rebiai scored from a corner, but it was not enough to spark a comeback.

Sundowns took control in the second half, with Shalulile scoring his second of the night just six minutes after the restart. Mailula then put the game beyond doubt in the dying minutes of the match, giving Sundowns a commanding lead ahead of the second leg in Pretoria next weekend.
