Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil has confirmed that Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has sustained a shin injury, which led to his absence in their Premier League game against Chelsea last weekend.
The 23-year-old joined Bournemouth in January and has appeared in 11 Premier League games, recently scoring his debut goal a few weeks ago against Leeds United.
O'Neil is hopeful that the Black Stars attacker will recover in time to participate in the preseason.
O’Neil also confirmed ahead of their game against Manchester United on Saturday that Antoine Semenyo has undergone surgery for a shin injury and hopes for a "speedy recovery" before the preseason.
“Antoine has had surgery, so he will be out until next season,” O’Neil said.
“We're hopeful that he returns and can have a decent spell with the team before the season starts, but it will depend on how quickly he recovers.
“Everything went well, and we hope he has a speedy recovery because he can be a big help to us again next season."
