Former Ghana international, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says he remains optimistic Black Stars will improve ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 AFCON.

His comment emerges following the Black Stars' defeats in the international friendly games against Mexico and the USA.

Ghana lost 0-2 to Mexico and 0-4 to the USA, conceding a total of six goals without scoring none.

The poor run of results has raised questions about Black Stars chances ahead of the tournament in Ivory Coast next year.

However, the former Udinese midfielder beleives the team will get before the World Cup qualifiers and the AFON tournament.

Agyemang-Badu also implored the head coach of the side, Chris Hughton to consider inviting experienced players to strengthen the team.

“It’s very worrisome, very troublesome where we are heading to but I’m really optimistic that for what I think has happened in these two games the coach (Chris Hughton) has seen what he needs to do, what he needs to react on," he told Citi Sports.

“I’m very optimistic that from next month the team will start gelling well and try to do well and if he (the coach) can add a bit of experienced players to the team I think it will help," he added.

Meanwhile, Ghana have been housed in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
