Athletic Bilbao's president expresses confidence as contract discussions with Nico Williams heat up, implying that his contract will be renewed soon.
During his statement on Radio Nacional de Espana, Athletic Club president Jon Uriarte sounded optimistic when addressing the negotiations with Nico Williams.
"Nico came when he was 11 years old and he is very comfortable here. His family is from Athletic to the death and his brother is another of the great players from the first team," he said.
"We are trying to provide the means so that he can extend his career with us and we think that we are going to achieve it,"
The 20-year-old made his first team and La Liga debut on 28 April 2020 coming on as a second-half substitute for Jon Morcillo in a 2–2 home draw against Real Valladolid. His brother Iñaki Williams also came off the bench ten minutes later.
Nico Williams made 36 appearances, scored six goals, and assisted four in the 2022/23 La Liga.
