Dan Kwaku Yeboah, a sports journalist, has stated that the Ghana Football Association should evaluate the consequences of Asamoah Gyan's relationship with Black Stars skipper Andre Ayew before opting to add the former Sunderland player to the World Cup squad.
He said that the two football players are not on good terms and that they have some unsolved problems.
Yeboah stated that the GFA would need to engage the two players and resolve their differences if they are to be on the same World Cup team. He also said when the duo meets in public smiling it is all for the cameras.
The former GFA spokesman was with the Black Stars in Egypt at the 2019 AFCON where Dede and Gyan featured for Ghana. The alleged unresolved problems happened during the AFCON.
“Another problem is that Dede and Asamoah are not on good terms. Dede is the captain now, if you add Asamoah to the team, it could bring issues. If we are going to send Gyan to the World Cup then we’ll have to speak to both of them. They laugh in public but it’s just for the camera," he said.
“We should speak to them for them to appreciate that we’ll be sending them there in the interest of the country. What happened in the 2019 AFCON shows clearly that the two of them are not on good terms. Asamoah Gyan brings good vibes around the team but if he is to go, then we must speak to him and Dede to remind them that Ghana’s interest is supreme," he added.
