Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah has heaped praise on former manager Eddie Nketiah for influencing his career positively.
The French manager handed the English-born Ghanaian strike his debut in a Europa League tie against BATE Borisov in September 2016.
Having guided the forward through the transition between the academy and the first-team, the former England youth star has expressed gratitude to the legendary Arsenal manager for setting him up for the step up.
“Arsene was really good,” Eddie revealed. “He was like a real father figure to me when I was coming up through the academy, and he would put his arm around me and speak to me a lot. He gave me a lot of confidence and allowed me to believe I belonged at this level.
“I’m really grateful to him for giving me my debut and the early games in my career. He came to the stadium not too long ago so it was really nice to catch up with him.”
The 23-year-old has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in 29 Premier League games this season.
Nketiah extended his stay at Arsenal before the start of the 2022/23 season and opted to wear the iconic number 14 jersey at the club.
