Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku expressed his joy and excitement after making his debut for Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Djiku made a late substitute appearance in Fenerbahce's 1-0 victory over Azerbaijan’s Neftçi in a preseason friendly on Saturday.

Taking to Twitter, Djiku shared his thoughts on his first appearance for the club, stating, "Very happy to have played my first minutes under my new colors."

The 28-year-old center-back officially joined Fenerbahce’s preseason just four days ago, signing a three-year deal with an additional year's option.

Despite receiving interest from Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga and Lille in the French Ligue 1, Djiku opted to join Fenerbahce due to his admiration for the team's vision.

He wasted no time in integrating with his new teammates and preparing for the upcoming season.

Starting the match on the bench, Djiku was subbed on in the 81st minute, replacing Serdar Aziz. Neftci Baku ultimately succumbed to Fenerbahce with a scoreline of 1-0, thanks to a solitary strike by new signing Edin Dzeko.

Djiku's debut appearance for Fenerbahce marks the beginning of what is expected to be an exciting chapter in his career, as he aims to contribute to the team's success in domestic and international competitions.
