Ajax boss, Alfred Schreuder has explained why Mohammed Kudus has regained his playing position, leaving Brian Brobbey to the bench.
The Ghana international endured a frustrating start at the Dutch Eredivisie.
After an impressive pre-season, the 21-year-old was relegated to the bench.
However, in the game against Rangers last week in the Champions League, the former FC Nordsjaelland forward was selected ahead of Brian Brobbey.
Kudus made an instant impact having scored to end the game 4-0.
Over the weekend, Kudus was handed a starting line up against SC Heerenveen and netted a brace to end the game 5-0.
“Mo has done very well. I expect a defensive team and small spaces," he told ESPN.
"Mo is very strong on the ball in small spaces. When you've played such a good game, I don't think you should take it off.'
It means another disappointment for Brobbey and Schreuder has to manage that again.
“We spoke briefly after the game. He's okay," he says, "Of course he wants to play, that's logical, but he has played four times in the last five league matches."
He also explained why Kudus was selected for the Ranger games.
"I do that for Kudus. I give him a crowd changer. If people want to interpret that differently, I can't help it," he added.
