Ex-Black Stars goalkeeper, Adam Larsen Kwarasey has urged players born abroad to only agree to play for the Ghana national team for the right reasons and not for personal interest.

In the past couple of years, the Ghana FA has been in talks with several players born abroad but eligible to play for the national team to try and get them to play for the country.

Speaking to Joy Sports in an interview, Adam Larsen Kwarasey has urged such players not to accept to play for Ghana just because the Black Stars have qualified for the world cup.

According to him, players must agree to play for Ghana because they want to represent and give their best to the national team.

“They need to come for the right reason I’ll say. I know they probably want to experience the World Cup but I hope they come because they want to represent Ghana and not because they were not selected by another country.

“I think that’s number one – they need to be there because they want to play their hearts out for Ghana. Number two is hard because it’s been a while since I have been around, so I don’t really know how things are done in camp, but adjust quickly and do your best basically,” Adam Larsen Kwarasey shared.

During his time with the Black Stars, the goalkeeper played at AFCON and world cup tournaments.
