Ghana coach, Otto Addo beleives a draw against Nigeria would have been a fair result.

The Black Stars as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers clashed with the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) runners-up at the Stade de Marrakesh on Friday afternoon.

Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers scored the opening goal for Nigeria in the 38th minute of the game after they were awarded a penalty.

After recess, the Super Eagles increased their tally through Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman in the 84th minute.

However, Antoine Semenyo won a late penalty for Ghana which was eventually converted by Jordan Ayew but that was all the Ghanaians could get as the game ended 2-1.

Speaking to the Ghana FA website, Addo praised his side for their fighting spirit but insisted a draw would been a fair result.

"We controlled them; we were a little bit unlucky with the finishing," the 43-year-old said.

"I think what killed us was their second goal because we were close to actually equalising but in all, a draw would have been deserved but like I said we lost and we have to improve and move on," he added.

Otto Addo will hope to secure his first win when Ghana come up against the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday at the Stade de Marrakesh.
