Former President of Techiman City FC, Charles Ntim, also known as Mickey Charles says the 2023 Ghana Football Association (GFA) Elective Congress held in Tamale was illegal.

At the Congress at the Global Dream Hotel, incumbent GFA President Kurt Okraku ran unopposed and ended up getting 117 of 120 votes to secure another four-year term as GFA President.

However, Mickey Charles in an interview with Citi Sports said the process was illegal per the statutes of the GFA.

“Well, the process was illegal. What happened in Tamale was an illegality because per our statutes, if the GFA Executive Council wanted a mandate, they should have asked Congress to give them a mandate when they had the Ordinary Congress on the 10th of July in Kumasi.

“As far as the statute is concerned, there is nothing like an Elective Congress so what happened in Tamale was null and void.”

Meanwhile, the hearing of the court injunction is to be heard on Thursday, October 12.
