Chairman of the Black Galaxies, Dr. Tony Aubynn, has reiterated that the playing body will only be paid a qualification bonus and not a winning bonus in the ongoing CHAN qualification.
Annor Walker’s side beat Benin in the preliminary round of qualifiers with a 4-0 aggregate score.
The Black Galaxies who are yet to concede a goal will face their swore rivals, Nigeria in the next phase of the qualifiers.
Speaking on Akoma FM after the win against Benin in the return leg away, Dr. Aubynn revealed that the Black Galaxies will receive a qualification bonus rather than a winning bonuses.
“The rumors going around that the FA has paid $2500 as a winning bonus to the Black Galaxies is not factual to the best of my knowledge I have no idea about it," he said.
"The chairman does not pay winning bonuses, the period we find ourselves is not about paying winning bonuses but rather is about Ghana beating Nigeria in the next round.
“Though the players need the money that is not what they are thinking about for now, but qualifying against Nigeria. Let me say that when that is achieved, a huge package will be given to the team," he added.
The Black Galaxies will host Nigeria on August 26 before the return game on August 28.
The 2023 CHAN will be hosted in Algeria.
