South Africa's head coach, Hugo Broos, has set his sights beyond the Round of 16 in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
As the team successfully secures their place in the knockout stages, Broos boldly declares that this is just the beginning of what could be a historic journey for the South African squad.
In an interview following their qualification for the round of 16, Coach Broos didn't shy away from expressing his belief in the team's capabilities.
Broos, who, having tasted victory in 2017 with Cameroon, harbors a serious desire to replicate that success.
“I am so happy to qualify for the next round,” he said.
“We had a difficult group with Tunisia, Mali and Namibia, but we did well. So we started a new competition in the next round. We are aiming to qualify for the final, why not. We have a good team and I am very confident,” he added.
