Former Egypt captain Ahmed Elmohamady has slammed coach Rui Vitoria, accusing the Portuguese manager of underestimating Ghana.
Elmohamady, who led Egypt through numerous battles during his captaincy, questioned Vitoria's suitability for coaching the Pharaohs.
West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus scored twice in the encounter. Egypt scored through Omar Marmoush and Mostafa Mohamed.
“Rui Vitoria lacks experience in coaching national teams," he said after the game.
“He experimented in the Mozambique match and today’s match. The Egyptian national team is not a field for experiments.
“Vitoria respected Ghana more than necessary; they should have been pressed from the start. When the team pressed in the second half, we scored two goals.
“Not starting Trezeguet was a mistake; he is the second-best player in the Egyptian national team. He was the secret to Egypt’s uprising in the 68th minute, giving his utmost for the team. His substitution was late.
“This is the players’ job, not the coach’s job. The players felt the danger of being eliminated from the tournament and performed well.
“Vitoria showed that he is a coach with little experience in coaching national teams, and the Egyptian national team is a big team,"
