In the wake of Ghana's 2-2 draw with Egypt in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, defender Mohammed Salisu emphasizes the psychological toll that singling out a player for a mistake can take on the player.

The Thursday evening clash witnessed moments that tested Ghana's resilience, with Inaki Williams and substitute Osman Bukari both involved in lapses that led to crucial goals.

In particular, Williams' error in the 69th minute opened the door for Omar Marmoush's goal, while just a minute later, Bukari's mistake allowed Mostafa Mohamed to capitalize.

Reflecting on the outcome, Salisu acknowledges the team's disappointment but cautions against focusing blame on individual players.

"We win as a team, we lose as a team, there is no individual mistake," he said after the game.

"When we make mistakes, we do it as a team. When you mention a player, you kill him for the next game. The most important thing is to focus on the next game," he added.

Ghana will now turn its attention to the must-win game against Mozambique which will be played on Monday 22nd January 2024. The game will kick off at 20:00 GMT.2023
