Medeama SC striker, Jonathan Sowah will be named in Black Stars matchday squad against teh Central African Republic (CAR) later today.
The promising striker is the only local player who earned a call-up to the Black Stars for their final Group E game in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Sowah was impressive for the Yellow and Mauves last season. He scored 12 goals as he led his side to win the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.
Ahead of the game, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has hinted that Chris Hughton will name the striker in the team's matchday squad against CAR.
"Chris Hughton watched Jonathan Sowah at the Baba Yara Stadium in a game Medeama SC won 2-0 against Asante Kotoko after he started monitoring him," he told Asempa FM as monitored by Footballghana.com.
"Didi Dramani was also reporting to him on the performance of the local players. On Sunday, Chris Hughton again watched Sowah in the Champion of Champions against Dreams FC at the Cape Coast Stadium and he was again impressed and inviting him was not a challenge.
"Chris Hughton told me Jonathan Sowah will be named in the matchday squad against Central African Republic but as to whether he will start, that is left for the coach to decide," he added.
Ghana, who sit top of Group E with nine points need a draw to qualify for the tournament that will be held in Ivory Coast next year.
Kick off for the game is scheduled at 16:00GMT.
