Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil's participation in Thursday's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against the Central African Republic remains uncertain due to an injury concern.

According to reports, the Genk star has sustained an injury and is presently undergoing treatment in Accra, Ghana's capital city.

The injury has raised questions about his readiness for the pivotal AFCON qualifier, as his fellow Black Stars teammates are already in Kumasi, gearing up for the upcoming match.

Notably, Paintsil is currently not among the players within the Black Stars camp in Kumasi.

The 25-year-old reportedly brought the injury from the game he played at club side over the weekend.

Ghana will host the Central Africa Republic in their final Group E game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Chris Hughton’s team leads Group E with nine points, a point ahead of Angola and two above the Central Africa Republic. Madagascar is bottom of the group with two points.

The Black Stars need a point from the game to book qualification for the tournament to be held in Ivory Coast next January.
