Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum says the Black Stars has no injury concerns ahead of the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars arrived in Ivory Coast on Wednesday and will open their AFCON account against Cape Verde on Sunday.

Before the team departed Ghana, there were some injury concerns in camp. Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo and Salis Abdul Samed of RC Lens were not involved in the Namibia clash due to health issues.

Semenyo missed the game because of illness whiles Salis was excluded due to a knock.

West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus reported to camp late due to a knock but it appears he is back to full fitness after engaging in the team’s training sessions.

Giving an update, Asante Twum disclosed there are no injury concerns in camp ahead of the start of the tournament.

“Everything is under control. We do not have any injury worry whatsoever in camp” he said.

The West African powerhouse are without a major silverware since 1982, and are aiming to end the trophy drought in the neighbouring country.

The AFCON tournament will commence on Saturday, January 13 through to February 11, 2024, where 24 countries including the Black Stars will battle it out for the covetous trophy.

Ghana have a history of success in the AFCON, having won the title four times, most recently in 1982. However, they have experienced defeat in three finals since then, including losses to Ivory Coast in 1992 on penalties and Egypt in 2010, as well as a repeat defeat to Ivory Coast in 2015.
