Host nation Ivory Coast has decided to part ways with their head coach, Jean-Louis Gasset.
The Ivorian Football Federation officially confirmed the decision, marking the end of Gasset's tenure as the head coach for the Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire.
This decision comes on the heels of a devastating blow suffered by the Ivorian squad during the third day of the group stage, where they faced Equatorial Guinea. The defeat, deemed humiliating, was the tipping point for Gasset's departure.
The Ivorian Football Federation press statement on Wednesday reads: “that the contracts of Selector-Coach Jean-Louis André Lucien GASSET and his Deputy Ghislain Marie Joseph PRINTANT are terminated for insufficient results, in accordance with to the contract of objectives which linked them to the FIF. While waiting for the opening of a recruitment procedure for the new Selector-
