Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed belief in the Black Stars team ahead of the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Ghana will be competing for the covetous trophy that has eluded the country for over three decades in neighbouring country, Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars will open their account against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024 before taking on Egypt and Mozambique on January 18 and 22 respectively in Group B.

Issahaku, who opted out of the team to focus on Leicester City has taken to social media to express his love for the country, adding he has no doubt in the team ahead of the tournament.

“The best nation in the world good luck to the team I know what you do I have no doubt in the team ??supporting you guys with all my heart ❤️ and soul go blackstar” he wrote on X sighted by Footballghana.com.

The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, January 13 through to February 11, 2024.

The Black Stars arrived in Ivory Coast on Wednesday ahead of the start of the tournament this weekend.

Ghana have a history of success in the AFCON, having won the title four times, most recently in 1982. However, they have experienced defeat in three finals since then, including losses to Ivory Coast in 1992 on penalties and Egypt in 2010, as well as a repeat defeat to Ivory Coast in 2015.
