Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has provided an update on Mohammed Kudus, who is yet to report to Black Stars camp.
Kudus, who has been nursing a slight injury, has yet to join his teammates who commenced training on January 3 in Kumasi.
Speaking on GTV on Sunday evening, Asante Twum confirmed the former Ajax Star has arrived in Accra and is expected to join the Black Stars camp before they depart to Ivory Coast for the tournament.
"Mohammed Kudus is in Accra ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. According to the Technical Team, he needs rest after picking up a strain. He will join the team before they depart for the AFCON."
The inform Ghanaian midfielder will not be available for the Black Stars pre-AFCON friendly game against Namibia scheduled for Monday, January 8, 2023 as he continues his recovery.
Meanwhile, the former Nordjaelland star is said to be optimistic and eager to join his teammates ahead of the continental showpiece.
The Black Stars will be competing for the title in neighbouring country, Ivory Coast this month as the search for a fifth AFCON title continues.
Ghana are drawn in Group B, where they will face record-winners Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in the group phase.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, January 13 through to February 11, 2024.
Ghana have a history of success in the AFCON, having won the title four times, most recently in 1982. However, they have experienced defeat in three finals since then, including losses to Ivory Coast in 1992 on penalties and Egypt in 2010, as well as a repeat defeat to Ivory Coast in 2015.
