Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is urging a change in mentality and approach ahead of their game against Egypt in the crunchy 2023 Africa Cup of Nations clash.

The Black Stars lost their opening game against the Cape Verde on Sunday and face a difficult test against the Pharaohs of Egypt on Thursday night.

Badu, who is optimistic about the team has entreated the Black Stars to change their mentality if they are get a positive result against Egypt.

“I believe in the Black Stars team but I expect a different mentality and approach against Egypt. We don’t have to repeat Cape Verde approach this time”

“In our last five games, we’ve not been able to perform in first half but manage to secure late wins in second half. We should know we cannot get such luck all the time but per what I have seen I think things will change against Egypt. I’m still optimistic about the team”

Ghana failed to go beyond the group stage at the last Nations Cup in Cameroon, and are bent on making it to the next phase of the tournament.

The Black Stars will engage Mozambique in their final group game on Monday, January 22, 2024.

Ghana now find themselves in a challenging position in Group following the defeat. They are currently bottom on the table without a point.
