The Black Stars of Ghana are starting preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament today.
This follows the conduct of the official draw for the 34th edition of the continental showpiece.
At the end of the draw, the Black Stars have been drawn into Group B and will battle with Egypt, Cape Verde, as well as Mozambique.
When the 2023 AFCON commences on January 13, the Black Stars of Ghana will be in action on January 14, 2024.
The Black Stars will take on their counterparts from Cape Verde at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan
In the second round of group games, Ghana will face a tough test when the Black Stars lock horns with the Pharaohs of Egypt.
That game will be played at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in the Ivorian capital on January 18, 2024, before Ghana wraps up the group matches with a third match against Mozambique.
Ghana is heading into the 2023 AFCON hoping to end a trophy drought that spans over four decades.
The last time the West African football powerhouse lifted the AFCON title was way back in 1982.
Since then, it’s been try and error, and let’s try another time to no avail. Hopefully, the story will be different in Ivory Coast.
