Former Bibiani Goldstars tactician Michael Osei is urging an improved performance from the Black Stars following defeat against Cape Verde in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations opener.
The West Africa powerhouse succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde last Sunday, courtesy goals from Jamiro Monteiro and Garry Rodrigues.
Ahead of Egypt clash, Osei, a former coach of Asante Kotoko has called on the Black Stars players to lift themselves up in order to make impact at the tournament.
“The players need to lift themselves and fight for the national flag. We all blame coaches after every poor performance but forget that the players are seriously to be blamed as well. They play high level of football and know the nitty gritty of football. We lack many things tactically and we need to lift ourselves if we want to go far in the tournament”
The Black Stars will face Egypt in their second Group B game on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Ghana now find themselves in a challenging position in Group following the defeat. They are currently bottom on the table without a point.
