Andre Ayew will lead the Black Stars as the skipper for the side ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Le Havre attacker has been named in Black Stars 55-man provisional squad for the tournament.
The squad has 11 local players with the core of the team maintained with some players earning their debut call-up ahead of the tournament.
The final list for the squad will be announced on January 3 by Chris Hughton, who is the head coach of the side.
The West African powerhouse were drawn in Group B record AFCON holders, Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique during the draw in Ivory Coast on Thursday night.
Ghana has come close to ending the trophy drought in the last decade, 2010 Angola losing to Egypt in the finals and in 2015 Equatorial Guinea- Gabon as the Stars lost to Ivory Coast on penalty shootouts.
Ayew will hope to guide the Black Stars to their first Nations Cup triumph, a title that has eluded the country for over 40 years.
The 34th edition of AFCON is expected to take place from January 13 until February 11, 2024, with Ghana opening their account on January 14 against Cape Verde.
Ghana will open their account at the tournament against Cape Verde before taking on Egypt and Mozambique in that order.
