Ghana will miss the services of Mohammed Salisu, Tariq Lamptey and Antoine Semenyo for the upcoming AFCON 2023 qualifiers against Madagascar due to injuries.

The Black Stars coach Chris Hughton on Tuesday unveiled 24 players for the much-anticipated game next month but had to do away with the trio who plies their trade in England.

Salisu has not been in action for Southampton since February due to groin injury. He was unable to feature for Ghana in the doubleheader against Angola despite getting a call up in March.

Meanwhile, Semenyo, who scored a crucial goal to hand Ghana victory in Kumasi against Angola suffered an injury that ruled him out of the season at Bournemouth few weeks ago.

Lamptey suffered a knee injury in March in a Premier League game against West Ham and was ruled out of the 2022/23 season.

The former Chelsea right-back missed Ghana's doubleheader against Angola in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in March.

He was replaced by German-born Kingsley Schindler by Black Stars coach Chris Hughton in March for the AFCON qualifiers.

The pacey right-back is still in the treatment room and has been omitted from the squad for the upcoming qualifier against Madagascar.

The Black Stars will face Madagascar in the fifth round of the qualifiers on June 18 at the Stade Kianja Berea in Antananarivo.

Ghana currently sit atop Group E in the AFCON qualifiers, amassing 8 points. Their journey thus far has seen them secure victories in two matches against Madagascar and Angola, while also earning draws against Central African Republic and Angola in the initial four fixtures.

Following the Madagascar clash, the Black Stars will conclude their qualifiers with a final home game against the Central African Republic in September.

Excitement continues to build as Ghana aim to maintain its impressive form and secure qualification to next year’s tournament in Ivory Coast.
