Former Hearts of Oak coach, Kim Grant has appealed to Black Stars coach, Otto Addo not to neglect local players ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

With less than five months to the start of the Mundial, Otto Addo is yet to name his squad for the global showpiece.

Last week, the Ghana Football Association [GFA] announced that six players have completed their nationality switch to play for the West African side ahead the World Cup.

The players include Inaki Williams (Atletico Bilbao), Tariq Lamptey (Brighton), Ransford Yeboah (Hamburg), Stephen Ambrosius (Hamburg) and Patrick Pfeiffer.

But according to the former Hearts of Oak coach, their availability will make the team stronger but also the GFA must also ensure home-based players get the opportunity.

“The question going forward is will they be available for the national team after the World Cup. Yes they will bring quality to the national team but also it’s about the local players as well," he told Accra based Happy FM.

"Don’t neglect them. You need hungry and determined players to grow and come through the long-term future of the national teams and also the development of football itself," he added.

Ghana, who are in Group H will open their campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Four days later, the Black Stars return to action with a clash with South Korea at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.

Ghana will wrap up their group stage adventure with their much-anticipated encounter with Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah.

The Black Stars having missed out in the last edition hosted in Russia in 2018 will be hoping to improve their performance in Qatar after exiting at the group phase during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
