Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil says he is humbled to be recognised as one of Genk’s three best players during the 2022/23 football season.
The awarding ceremony took place at the Cegeka Arena before the club's last pre-season friendly against English Premier League side Burnley on Saturday.
During the event, Joseph Paintsil was joined by Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye and Patrik Hrosovsky as the recipients of the three coveted accolades.
After the game, he took to Twitter to express gratitude to the club for recognising his contributions.
“Humbled and honored to receive this award as one of the top three performers last season. I dedicate this to the rest of my teammates & coaching staff for always having my back,” he wrote.
“Thanks to the fans as well for pushing me to be the best I can be. It felt good to see you today.”
Paintsil, 25, was in fine form throughout the past season, consistently delivering impressive performances.
His remarkable contributions to the team's success were highlighted by an impressive record of 18 goals and 14 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
In the pre-season friendly against Burnley, Joseph Paintsil entered the game as a second-half substitute to replace Argentinian Matias Alejandro Galarza.
Genk's Nigerian duo, Yira Sor and Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, found the back of the net in each half of the friendly match, securing a decisive 2-0 victory over the English Premier League newcomers.
