Former Ghana striker Prince Tagoe, has shed light on the controversial moment during the 2010 World Cup quarter-finals match against Uruguay, disclosing that it was Coach Milovan Rajevac's decision for Stephen Appiah to take the spot kick.

In the dying moments of the match, the Black Stars were on the cusp of securing a semi-final berth when a late penalty was awarded to Ghana.

However, Asamoah Gyan's miss from the spot sent the game into penalties after extra time, ultimately resulting in a heartbreaking 4-2 loss for Ghana.

Tagoe revealed that contrary to popular belief, it was not Milovan Rajevac's choice to have Gyan take the crucial kick.

Instead, it was Stephen Appiah who was originally intended for the task. Unfortunately, Rajevac was delayed in communicating this decision to Appiah, allowing Gyan to grab the ball before Appiah could take his turn.

“I was on the bench and when we had the penalty, Coach Milo wanted Stephen Appiah to take it, however, he couldn’t ass the message on quickly before Gyan took the ball from him (Stephen Appiah)," he told Angel TV.
