Ghana striker Felix Afena-Gyan wants to give off his best anytime he plays for AS Roma after scoring in their 2-0 win over Sunderland in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

The Black Cats made a solid account of themselves, but Afena-Gyan’s opening goal after 75 minutes proved their undoing, before Nicolo Zaniolo added a second five minutes from full-time.

AS Roma are back in action at the same venue on Saturday as they take on Portimonense.

"This was a good game after playing the first game at home," the 19-year-old said after the game.

"We have a strong mentality and wanted to win. If we keep playing like this, we can win every game.

"I always try to give my best to score every time I have an opportunity, like that. I must keep working hard."

Afena-Gyan recently signed a new four-year contract with Roma that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.

He has made 22 appearances for the Giallorossi to date, scoring two goals.
